The Hermès Kelly 28 is one of the maison’s most enduring handbag icons, celebrated for its architectural silhouette, structured elegance, and association with Grace Kelly. This 1999 Kelly 28 in Gold Courchevel leather with Gold Hardware is an especially beautiful vintage configuration, combining one of Hermès’ most timeless colours with a discontinued heritage leather that preceded modern-day Epsom.
Stamped C Square for 1999, this Kelly is crafted in Courchevel leather, a discontinued Hermès leather prized for its structured appearance, lightweight feel, and excellent resistance to scratches. Often regarded as the predecessor to Epsom, Courchevel is increasingly encountered only through vintage Hermès pieces today.
The classic Gold-on-Gold combination—Gold leather paired with Gold Hardware—gives the bag an exceptionally warm and timeless appearance. More importantly for a bag of this age, this example has been beautifully maintained with excellent structural integrity. Based on close inspection, we see no signs of recolouring or repainting work, preserving the character and authenticity of the original leather.
It comes with a strong accompanying set comprising its shoulder strap, dustbag, keys, lock, and box. Comparable Kelly 28 examples in similarly excellent condition are currently positioned around SGD 16,000–17,000 on the secondary market, making SGD 14,888 particularly compelling.
For vintage Hermès, condition and originality matter enormously, and this is what makes this Kelly particularly attractive. At over 25 years old, the Courchevel remains beautifully maintained, structurally sound, and—based on our close inspection—without recolouring or repainting work. Add the timeless Gold-on-Gold combination, highly wearable Kelly 28 proportions, and a strong accompanying set, and there is a lot to love here. At SGD 14,888 versus approximately SGD 16–17k for comparable excellent-condition examples, this is a very compelling entry into a classic vintage Kelly.
